To Bake or not to bake …. that is the question!
Well hello there … we know we’ve been away a while, but we’re making a return to blogging now trade shows have finished, summer is officially over and Autumn is in full swing! And yes, it’s that time when we are starting to think about comfort food and warming up a little as the temperature begins to drop and the night’s begin to draw in.
Who’s already obsessed with ‘Bake Off’ then? Hand’s up! We’ve all been waiting in anticipation for the return of this contemporary baking show and I’m pretty sure we have some budding Mary Berry’s out there who will be trying their hand at some cracking cake recipes over the coming months.
Well look no further we have plenty to get you started as we’re just launching our ‘Lily & Val’ baking, home and stationery ranges. Who’s Lily & Val I hear you ask? Lily & Val is the creative genius of American artist Valerie McKeehan. Valerie started out by transforming an old picture frame into a chalkboard for her kitchen at home and hey presto, her love affair with chalkboard art began! Each item’s illustration is hand lettered by Valerie, and is infused with her trademark flourishes, flowers and typography, all done with the same sense of quirky elegance that inspires her at home. Her original designs have then be taken into production to develop beautiful pieces for you to have in your own home.
Why not choose from our ‘Recipe Tin’ complete with dividers and index cards for those ‘secret’ bake off recipes and when you’ve finished your creation, store your masterpiece in our ‘Set of 2 Cake Tins’. Remember whilst you’re doing all this hard work in the kitchen, to always make time for a cuppa, using our ‘Take Life One Cup At A Time’ porcelain mug – the perfect gift!
If on the other hand you need something a little stronger, then we have a super set of drinks coasters and a lovely calendar (never too early to get organised!) which detail everything you need for the perfect cocktail! Our favourite is the ‘Old Fashioned’ cocktail (featured in our set of coasters) – could this be because it reminds us of that schmoozy American Drama ‘Mad Men’ and the ever so dashing ‘Don Draper’ who is the epitomy of 70’s cool! Very fitting right now as the 70’s are having a huge revival …… to be discussed further ……
